Therapy does not have to mean staring into a camera.
If video calls leave you feeling watched, distracted, overstimulated, or like you are performing being okay, audio-based therapy may be a better fit.
Audio-Based Therapy for Adults
I offer private-pay telehealth therapy for adults who want thoughtful, collaborative support without having to sit in an office or stare into a screen.
Support without being so perceived
For many people, phone sessions create more room to think, speak, pause, move, cry, laugh, or tell their truth without managing their face, lighting, posture, background, or camera angle.
Audio-based therapy can be especially helpful if you are tired of turning every form of support into another appointment where you have to look presentable, sit still, and perform emotional availability on command.
Therapy does not have to be visually observed to be meaningful.
Your Questions, Answered
-
This work is narrative, existential, trauma-informed, and grounded in respect for your autonomy. Together, we look at the stories, roles, relationships, and survival patterns that shaped your life then sort through what still belongs, what never did, and what you want to build next.
Audio-call therapy removes some of the visual pressure that can make therapy feel performative. Without managing eye contact, facial expressions, lighting, posture, or how you appear on camera, there may be more room to notice what you actually think and feel.
For some clients, phone sessions make it easier to speak honestly, pause naturally, move around, rest, or access parts of themselves that feel harder to reach while being visually observed.
Audio-call therapy is not a lesser version of telehealth. For many people, it is a more spacious, private, and humane way to do meaningful work.

Many people still imagine therapy through an old media image: someone lying on a couch, looking away, eyes closed, saying the things they may not have been able to say while making direct eye contact.
Audio-call therapy is not the same as that old cartoon version of therapy, but there is something useful in the idea that meaningful work does not require being watched. Without the visual pressure of managing your face, posture, lighting, or camera angle, there can be more room to notice what you actually think and feel.
Without a camera feed, you are free to lie on the floor, sit outside, walk on a treadmill, or settle into a space that helps you feel more comfortable. You do not have to be home for session, though I do need to know your physical location at the time of each appointment in case of an emergency.
For safety, I do not conduct sessions while clients or I are driving, with or without video.
For some clients, phone sessions make therapy feel more private, expansive, and meaningful.

You feel drained by video calls.
You think more clearly when you are not being watched.
You prefer therapy that feels private, flexible, and less performative.
You have ADHD, trauma, chronic illness, disability, sensory needs, or a schedule that makes office-based therapy difficult.
You want support without commuting, waiting rooms, fluorescent lights, or another camera-based appointment.
-
Therapy may include exploring trauma, ADHD, grief, burnout, family conflict, boundaries, identity, relationships, self-trust, sexuality, chronic illness, body autonomy, and major life transitions.
The work is not about forcing you into a different version of yourself. It is about making sense of what you have carried, what it cost, and what kind of life feels more authentic and sustainable now.
